Fall Exam Reminders Be sure to visit the Exam Center to retrieve your exam ID, check exam rooms and conditions, and get all other information about exams.
If you intend to use a laptop for exams, you must upload a practice exam (marked “Practice Exam” in the software exam list) with the Fall 2011 version of Exam4 no later than 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 30 to be eligible for technical support or use of the “emergency” laptops during exams. This means, if you do encounter a problem during exams, have not taken a practice exam by the deadline, and cannot continue on your computer, you must handwrite your exam from where you left off. Academic Skills Spring Semester Academic Skills Workshops and Dean’s Scholars Program
The Academic Skills Workshops in the spring will focus on exam-taking skills. The schedule of the workshops will be available at the beginning of the Spring semester. The Dean’s Scholar Program will continue in the spring semester in Criminal Law and Constitutional Law. The sessions will begin the second week of classes and run through the last week of classes. American Constitution Society Upcoming Events:
Looking Ahead to the Spring... "The Scottsboro Boys" - Join ACS, the BLSA , and JLSA for a weekend matinee performance of "The Scottsboro Boys", a musical production of the saga of the Scottsboro Boys trial with music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb (writers of "Chicago", "Cabaret", and the song "New York, New York"). The saga of the Scottsboro Boys, a group of young black men falsely accused of rape in 1930's Alabama, is a fascinating and horrifying story of race and justice in the United States, and also involves issues of antisemitism, the right of a jury trial, and the use of the death penalty. The show will open on January 20, 2012 and close February 19, 2012. The ACS, BLSA, and JLSA will be negotiating a group rate discount, and the exact date of the performance will be announced when a tally of interested students is completed. Intellectual Property Society Winter Coat Drive | Now until January 13, 2012 | Boxes located in 2nd, 3rd, & 4th floor elevator lobbies Share Some Warmth This Holiday Season! Donate a Coat The IP Society would like to invite its members, and the EMSoL student body and faculty, to donate coats to the Greater Philadelphia Cares Winter Coat Drive. The IP Society will be collecting the coats at EMSoL and will deliver the collected coats to GPC in time for Martin Luther King Day, right as winter is becoming coldest. The drive will run from now until Jan 13, 2012. Boxes will be set out on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th floor near the elevator. Collection from the boxes will occur weekly. Please be kind and only donate gently worn coats.

If you would like to have your event included in the Weekly Newsletter, please submit a short announcement to Dean Oates and Alanna Bridgett by Wednesday at 12:00 p.m. for the following Monday issue. If you do not receive a response from Alanna or Dean Oates within 24 hours, please resend the announcement.
Flyers/Posters: - All flyers and posters for law school events are to be submitted by email to Dean Oates, Dean McGovern, Alanna Bridgett, and Jerry Arrison for approval.
- Upon Dean Oates’ approval, the flyers will be posted on the plasma screens.
- Five stamped, color copies of the flyers can be picked up from Alanna Bridgett in Suite 400.
- Flyers may only be posted on bulletin boards in the School of Law Building and only the five stamped flyers picked up from Alanna Bridgett may be posted.
- Flyers may only be posted on floors 2, 3, and 4. Only one flyer may be posted on floors 3 and 4. On the 2nd floor, only 1 flyer may be posted in the elevator lobby and only 1 flyer may be posted in the gallery. On the 3rd floor, only 1 flyer may be posted on the bulletin board near the rear stairwell.
- Approved posters may be displayed in the lobby on the day of the event only. Posters must be removed at the end of the event.
- Poster size shall not exceed 20” x 30”.

James W. Stoudt Memorial Law School Scholarship - Deadline: December 2, 2011 The Pennsylvania Bar Foundation is currently accepting applications for the James W. Stoudt Memorial Law School Scholarship. This award provides four, $3,000 scholarships, two of which are specifically designated to support minority law students, to second year students attending any one of the eight accredited law schools presently serving Pennsylvania. Applicants must be able to document residency with either a current voter registration card or current Pennsylvania driver’s license.
