Rashida West’s Law School Debt Article Featured in Philadelphia Bar Reporter
March 7, 2012 —
Rashida T. West, associate director of government and public interest law at the law school, co-authored an article on law school debt featured in the Philadelphia Bar Reporter.
In the article, West and her co-author, Katherine O’Keefe, a post-graduate fellow at the Philadelphia City Law Department, discuss loan forgiveness programs available to law graduates who wish to pursue a career in public service. West and O’Keefe highlight one program, the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PLSF), which will forgive a loan entirely if a public service employee makes 120 consecutive loan payments.
West and O’Keefe also discuss loan assistance repayment options such as the Income Based Repayment plan (IBR). IBR calculates loan payments based on a graduate’s loan debt-to-income ratio, thus making loan payments more affordable, the co-authors said.
