Legal Intelligencer Cites Student Role in Teaching Parents about Special Education Law

January 5, 2012 — Jennifer Clarke and David Hanyok of the Public Interest Law Center of Philadelphia co-authored an essay in the Jan. 2 edition of The Legal Intelligencer that cites that work of several students in training city parents about their rights under federal special-education law.

The essay cited a project in which students from the law school produced educational videos for parents that appear on the PILCOP website. The students created the videos as a pro bono project during the 2010-2011 academic year.

The essay, which appears on the newspaper’s website, requires registration.

The videos*, featuring students Aminah Shabazz, Samira Suleman, Margaret Wheltle and Neha Yadav and alumni Daniel Colbert, Cira Davis and Anette Thomas, appear on the website of the Public Interest Law Center of Philadelphia, and can be viewed here:
