Plans for New Community Law Clinic Gain Notice in Philadelphia Inquirer
October 4, 2012 — An Oct. 4 story in the Philadelphia Inquirer about an upcoming community center near the Drexel University campus cites plans for a free legal clinic the law school will launch.
The article highlights Drexel University President John Fry’s announcement of plans to create the Dana and David Dornsife Center for Neighborhood Partnerships, which will provide a variety of services to residents of the Powelton Village and Mantua neighborhoods.
The center will be established thanks to a $10 million gift from Dana Dornsife, a 1983 alumna of Drexel University, and her husband, David Dornsife.
The university will house the center in a former elementary school and two vacant administrative buildings that will be renovated between 35th and 36th streets along Spring Garden Street.
The law school is currently developing plans for the legal clinic, which will be offered in addition to health screenings, counseling, fitness classes and other services to community residents and will expand the school's clinical programs.
