Mark Bernstein (email: mpb63@drexel.edu; 215.571.4770; Room L365) is the Director of the Legal Research Center and Professor of Law. Before joining Drexel, Mark was the Director of the Omer Poos Law Library at Saint Louis University, where he was also an Assistant Professor of Law. Previously, he was Associate Director and Senior Lecturing Fellow at the Duke University Law Library. At SLU, he chaired a Technology Advisory Committee, and at Duke, he co-chaired the Implementation Committee for an Integrated Library System. He is a past chairman of the Consortium of Southeastern Law Libraries and of the Strategic Planning Committee of the Academic Law Libraries Special Interest Section. Bernstein’s publications include articles on the evolution of the law library, the impact of law specialization on library services and qualitative methods for evaluating the value of a library. |

He is a 2006 graduate of Drexel’s Library and Information Science Program, and has previously worked as the Electronic Resources Assistant at Hagerty Library, in addition to being a cataloger at the Chemical Heritage Foundation in Philadelphia. |

John Cannan (e-mail: jc3238@drexel.edu; 215.571.4777; Room L310) is a Research and Instructional Services Librarian. He received his law degree from the University of Maryland, School of Law and practiced historic preservation and land use law in Baltimore. After obtaining his MLS from the University of Maryland, College of Library and Information Science, he was assistant law librarian at the Montgomery County (MD) Circuit Court Law Library and then a legal information analyst with the Law Library of Congress. He is a frequent writer on legal and legal research topics and author of “Are Public Law Librarians Immune from Suit? Muddying the Already Murky Waters of Law Librarian Liability,” which was published in the Law Library Journal. His current research interests are legal information services for self represented litigants, legislative history, Web 2.0 and judicial rules. |
