Welcome from the Legal Research Center!

On behalf of the staff of the Legal Research Center, I’d like to welcome you as a member of the Earle Mack School of Law Class of 2014! As you probably are aware, you will be spending a lot of time using the Legal Research Center. Some of the time you will be in the LRC itself, working with the print and electronic resources. You may opt to use one of our sixteen desktop computers, or   your own personal device in our entirely wireless environment. You may also opt for a quiet private study carrel, a table to sit with colleagues, or sign out one of our group study rooms to collaborate with   colleagues reviewing an exercise from a class earlier that day.

Sometimes you will be using the LRC from other sites; you will be able to access hundreds of databases including legal research databases such as Lexis and Westlaw as well as non-legal databases that are part of the Drexel University Libraries. All of this is simply a click away on the LRC’s web page.

We want you to know that our staff is here to assist you in any way we can. You will get to know many of the staff including our Research and Instructional Services Librarians. This group of librarians have degrees in law and library science and will be able to guide you through the sometimes confusing maze of legal research be it using databases or print materials.

You will have the ability to contact our staff via email and for the first time this fall, we will also be instituting reference chat to enable you to contact librarians during our regular hours from wherever you are.

While your first year will focus on legal research, as you continue through your law school years, you will find the need to use a variety of sources that will be available to you. The Legal Research Center above all else is student space here for your needs. Please feel free to contact myself or any member of the staff with any questions, suggestions, or ideas that you may have on making the LRC the best environment it can be.

We look forward to meeting you. Congratulations and best wishes on being a member of the Earle Mack School of Law, class of 2014.
