Who We Are

The Entrepreneurial Law Clinic at the Earle Mack School of Law at Drexel University provides legal advice for Philadelphia start-ups. Our clients work with a collaborative team of law students who are specializing in areas important to the success of the entrepreneur.

Each client is assigned to a student team who works under the supervision of the ELC’s Director and a mentor from the ELC’s Advisory Board.

The Advisory Board consists of experts from Philadelphia’s leading emerging growth practices.

What We Do

The Entrepreneurial Law Clinic provides the legal services necessary to bring innovative ideas from conception to raising outside funding. The ELC serves entrepreneurs at the stage when the cost often leads them to forgo legal advice and postpone legal formalities. This frugality can cause start-ups to lose a competitive advantage and incur substantial costs later on; jeopardizing the chances for success of even the best ideas. The ELC enables promising ideas to reach the next level.

The ELC assists fledgling companies with:

  • Entity Formations
  • Founder’s Agreements
  • Intellectual Property Protection
  • Employment Agreements
  • Basic Contracts, including Leases

Who We Serve

The Entrepreneurial Law Clinic serves the entrepreneurial eco-system in Philadelphia by matching our students’ talents with the needs of a select number of innovative start-up companies. To apply to be an ELC client, click here. Our clients are early-stage start-ups without significant outside funding who have:

  • A strong, highly committed founding team
  • The ambition to build a high-impact business
  • A willingness to give back to the entrepreneurial eco-system
  • An appreciation of the educational mission of the ELC

The ELC does not assist companies that are obtaining or have previously obtained significant outside funding from angel groups or venture capitalists.
